We spent a great afternoon sledding with Bob & Aleta, the Hennigers, & Thomas & Rosie.

New Year's Eve Party

We had a great evening with friends from church. Chris did a fantastic job preparing and serving us a traditional Spanish dinner. We finished the evening with games, stopping only to watch the ball drop at midnight.

Hello!

Well, it's been a few weeks since we've posted anything. The reason is that not that much has happened. We've settled into our fall routine. Basically working and classes.

I'm in class every Saturday morning from 8:30 until around noon. That really changes the dynamics of the weekend! This is my last class, but it's a busy one (they don't call it a capstone course for nothing!).

We're seriously visiting Trinity Presbyterian Church in St. Albans. I think we may be joining the next time they have a new members class. Tomorrow I start doing a bit of music at church. It's been a while, so I'm excited about that.

Thanks for checking in. We'll post more over the next few weeks.

Labor Day

Just a few pictures. On Saturday we climbed Camel's Hump. Significantly easier hike, fantastic views, but freezing cold! Sunday after church we relaxed, mowed the yard etc. On Monday we went to the gym and then headed down town for the Burlington Criterium. It was a gorgeous day to be out and around. That evening we went to the "farm" (Lydia's parents) for a cookout.

Happy Birthday Lydia

Yesterday was Lydia's 30th birthday.

The first activity of the day was to "hike" up Eagle Mountain. Being in Vermont, it's kind of embarassing calling it a mountain. It's kind of like Paris Mountain in SC, more like a big speed bump than an actual mountain. However, it has a great view of the lake and is a bit more exercise than walking.

The three girls (Heather, Lydia and her mom) went to Iris' Cafe for lunch. It's a restaurant that has an extensive Gluten Free menu. Since the restaurant is in Plattsburgh, NY (the other side of the lake), it's always a treat to go.

Since she had a big lunch at a restaurant, we went to Sandbar State Park for a picnic dinner. It was a beautiful evening for a picnic.

To wrap up the day, I surprised Lydia with a party. I had some of her friends come over to help celebrate her birthday. We made it a completely Gluten Free party so that everyone could enjoy.

P.S. A bit of Bixby Family Trivia. Did you know that Lydia and Aunt Bonnie Bixby share a birthday and an anniversary? The wonderful world of blogging reveals yet another secret!!

Last weekend in August

That's so hard to believe! Where did all the time go? After the craziness of the week, we decided to try and do nothing. We actually managed quite well; OK maybe not.

Saturday we went and hiked Mt. Mansfield (highest peak in VT). It was quite the challenge, both on the way up and on the way down. Lydia had one pretty spectacular wipe-out, but survived relatively unscathed. It was quite windy at the top (as you can see from the picture) and there wasn't a view. :(

That evening we went to a surprise birthday party for Nancy Goodman. She likes surprise parties almost as well as I do. Fortunately she's nicer than I am and actually stayed for the party. We had a very pleasant evening with friends.

So, far from doing nothing, we actually were gone most of the day! This morning we visited Trinity Presbyterian (a PCA church) again. This was our third visit and we're planning on visiting at least a few more times.

Lastly, here's a funny picture. Last week we had violent storms move through. A huge tree took out the power line to our neighborhood. So, Lydia caught me playing the piano to "candlelight." What can I say? I was bored!

P.S. Tuesday is Lydia's 30th birthday!
